For the past month or so, I have been studying electricity and circuits. Learning the information from this chapter was quite confusing in the beginning. I hadn't learned about electricity for a few years before, and needed to remind myself. However, I found it quite easy to understand the differences between series and parallel circuits. Solving problems in which I had to find voltage, current, and resistance for circuits. I quickly learned how to create a diagram including materials like batteries, resistors and wires. Making these diagrams made the concepts easier to understand, and put into perspective. I found myself drawing these in order to solve problems.
Although, I got confused on how to solve voltage drop in problems containing resistors of different numbers. I understood the formulas that had to be used in order to find voltage drop in circuits with the same level resistors. Approaching the problems that were different to this made me think harder. I could not seem to remember what steps had to be taken in order to answer these problems. Only a few problems on the study guide addressed this topic. I decided that in order to get more practice, I should look at other problems to fully understand this concept. Practicing these problems helped me gain confidence in solving problems related to voltage, current, and resistance. In the past, I have struggled to do practice outside of the classroom, especially when topics confuse me. I was very happy that I was able to do my own practice to reach my goal. Even though I was able to understand this concept, I wish I would have asked more questions prior to the test / quiz. I am very excited to be moving into Chemistry next year and hope that I can use all of the knowledge I gained this year and apply them to concepts in the next few years of science.
